Our New Home!

Sawadii kha!

We moved into a different apartment in mid-July (from the 29th floor to the 15th floor) to give us a little extra room and an OVEN!!!  Now, we can bake!  SO excited.  We've already experimented on some things and the oven works great - even though it's just a large toaster oven.  After going a year without anything baked, it's nice to smell chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven!  This apartment has a lot more room though it's just 2 bedrooms and 2 baths.  The extra bedroom is our laundry room where we hang our clothes to dry, because we only have a washer.  Not complaining about not having a dryer - at least we have a washer and don't have to go to the laundromat.

So, here's our home for the next 11 months.  If you need a place to visit, we have an extra bedroom!!  We'll just move our laundry hanger into our room while you're here!!  :)  We feel so blessed to be here and have such a nice place to call home.

This is an amazing sunset from our balcony.  Don't get many of these!  And we're not up early enough to see what the sunrises are like; but since our condo faces west, we wouldn't see it anyway!

This is our desk and sliding glass door to the kitchen.  Notice: oven is beside the desk - no room in kitchen for it.  Also: grandkids' pictures on sliding door!

Dining area.  The water cooler is now in someone else's apartment - thank goodness!

One end of the kitchen.  Tiniest refrigerator I've ever seen!
Other end of the kitchen - total of about 4 steps from end to end.  (Washer is next to our "pantry.")
Living area (don't use the TV - too much to do!)

front bathroom - right door in above photo

extra bedroom/storage room/laundry room - catch-all room - left door in hall

our bedroom - purple roll is our prayer cushion!  The floors are hard on old knees!

closet - notice: SAME OLD CLOTHES!!!  LOL

So, there it is!  Our abode for the next 11 months.  How can one complain when we are so blessed, right?  If you're ever in this part of the world, drop by to say hello to us.  We'd love to show you around and introduce you to the wonderful Thai people we've met.

What a joy it's been to get to know the sweet Saints here!  They are working hard to help the Church grow in hopes of having a temple here one day.  That is the dream of every Thai member - the announcement of the Thailand temple!  But there is a lot of work to be done before that announcement can be made.  Maybe in the next 5 years?  We're keeping our fingers crossed and exercising our faith that will happen for them.  Some have been waiting SO long for that blessing.  Being away from the temple for a year has been one of the hardest challenges for us, but it has helped us understand why temples are such a blessing in our lives and why they shouldn't be taken for granted.

Until next time,

Sawadii kha!

Thank you for showing us around your new home. It is a really lovely apartment, and those bathrooms - OH, MY, wouldn't we just love to have them here in the Philippines. That is quite a view over the city and the sunset is beautiful. Yes, we loved your blog!

  3. Wow, your apartment looks so nice and modern, right out of an IKEA catalog or something. Brother Shipley just talked to the YM & YW about his mission to Thailand last night. He talked about how hard the language is, how welcoming and kind the people are, and what the hole-in-the-ground toilets are like in the areas where they usually worked. So I guess you are living like kings with a bathroom like that! Thanks for blogging and for your service in your mission! We are enjoying getting to know your kids and grandkids who are living in your house. --Rachael Galvez
