Our First Christmas & New Year in Thailand 2012/2013

Beautiful poinsettias - perfect weather for them!
the Branch Christmas party was fantastic!!  Lots of hard work by many people!

MC's for the evening were Elder Segura and young man named Ball.

We were treated to an authentic Thai dance by Branch members! (sorry for the blurry photo!)

Our District and Stake joined together to present a Christmas Celebration.  Many long hours by many people ensured it was a success!
This was the pedigree of Jesus Christ - in Thai!

The evening's main event was a wonderful play about the Atonement's effect on our lives.

Awesome!  A 7' replica of the Christus statue!

This is Jom - one of our good friends!  She drives a taxi for a living.  Brave woman!!!

There was an outdoor stage where a variety of acts were performed by members of the various branches.  You could sit and eat your meal and listen to the performances.  They thought of everything - even put out citronella candles under each table to ward off the mosquitoes!!!

This is at the entrance of the building and festivities.

Our good friend, Dr. Metta, from the Bangrak Rotary.

The members of the Rotary throw a gala Christmas party each year and invited the missionary couples to attend.  Was at a beautiful hotel in downtown Bangkok with a fantastic dinner!!

This is Rutorn, the President-elect for 2013-2014.  He is an attorney that specializes in intellectual law.

The theme for the evening was Blue Christmas so everyone was to wear something blue.  Elder Manning and this woman were elected winners of the contest for best dressed in blue!!  The gentleman presenting the prize is Vasunt, the current President.  He is a successful businessman here and is a great Dallas Cowboys fan.  He and Elder Manning hit it off immediately!!

Everyone singing karaoke Christmas songs.

The next few photos are Christmas decorations at one of the malls in the area.  Not sure how much the Thais understand about Christmas since 99% of them are Buddhists.  But they understand it's good for business!!  So, we got to have some of the Christmas "feel" as we walked around the malls to see the decorations.

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!!
